Back in 1990 the brain death criterion was implemented in Denmark. By this it has been possible ever since to remove organs from deceased persons, and let the organs resume their functions in the bodies of other persons.
The development has improved the quality of life and the chances for a longer life for very sick persons. In addition to this fact the technological development brings along a number of ethical dilemmas.
Members of the Council of Ethics, donor families, a hospital priest and an anthropologist present various ethical dilemmas about aspects of donating organs.
